Multilingual Learners’ Progress
Elementary, Middle, and High Schools (Schools must have 20 Multilingual Language Learners to receive this indicator)
Purpose of Indicator
This indicator shows if Multilingual Learners are meeting growth targets to learn the English language within five years of beginning school in South Carolina.
What This Means
Multilingual Learners’ Progress is worth 10 rating points. A high rating point indicates a majority of Multilingual Learners at a school are progressing in learning English.
What makes up the indicator that leads to a Rating?
The Multilingual Learners’ Progress indicator is made up by the percentage of Multilingual Learners who meet their expected growth target on the WIDA ACCESS 2.0 English language proficiency test – which scores listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students have growth goals towards proficiency every year based on their starting levels of English language proficiency.
